Few people are born with the knowledge and skills to be effective managers. It takes learning from years of experience (and mistakes), mentors, good role models, challenging assignments, and honest feedback to grow into a great manager. Management training can accelerate the process of developing strong managers, and since the pandemic, it has become even more crucial:
Yet people are now less willing to travel to attend weeklong trainings. The Management Training Institute provides the high-quality training managers expect in a flexible format over 14 months. The entire program can be delivered virtually, or in person. However, most clients choose to use a combination.
Ideally, we train 15-20 managers from the same organization, strengthening their connection to the organization's mission and culture, and to one another. Meeting together in large and small groups builds the cohort’s identity as a team and their trust in one another, breaks through silos, and makes it easier to collaborate and to solve problems cross-functionally. Graduates say that the Institute is as much a team-building program as a training one.
To make it easier for smaller organizations with fewer managers (and smaller budgets) to participate, we can also run the program with a mixed cohort of managers from three or four similar nonprofits, foundations, or companies.
